To access safety data sheets, you have two options:

1. Scan the QR code on your Certified Safety Data Sheets poster on your smartphone or tablet and it will take you directly to this site.

2. Type this site's URL (above) directly into your internet browser on your desktop, laptop, phone, or tablet.

What are best practices for sharps safety?

The following practices will help minimize the risk of a sharps injury to you, coworkers, patients, and visitors.

1.  Limit your handling of sharps.  As soon as you finish using a sharp you should place the sharp in the appropriate container.  You should not hand the sharp to another employee for disposal.

2.  Obtain sharps training.  You should only handle sharps if you have received training in the proper disposal of contaminated sharps.

3.  Use leak proof sharps containers.  Sharps containers must be able to prevent spills or leaks during storage or transportation. 

4.  Use PPE.  Employees should practice standard (i.e., universal) precautions and use appropriate PPE (personal protective equipment).

5.  Transport sharps in sealed containers.    Sharps should be transferred in appropriate containers which you can seal.

6.  Avoid recapping needles.  You should not recap contaminated needles.

7.  Dispose of syringes sideways.  Syringes should be placed in sharps containers sideways,

where possible.

8.  Ask questions.  Contact our safety supervisor (listed below) if you do not understand our sharps safety practices or have comments on improving them.
